The Borden family purchased Coldstream Meadows Retirement Community in April of 1997. The business began with Jack and Elaine and their son Rob. All three worked directly in the business quickly learning all aspects of senior housing. Their commitment to senior housing was resolute and before long they had created a business plan to grow and enhance The Lodge (original supportive living facility) and its presence in Greater Vernon and throughout British Columbia. The Borden family became an integral member of the British Columbia Retirement Association, in the early years of the association helping to bring awareness to the issues facing senior housing in British Columbia.

In 2000 ideas began forming to create a premiere retirement community and to become a leader in senior housing. The Borden’s toured hundreds of senior housing facilities and developments in Canada and the US over a period of a couple of years, their goal was to seek out new ideas for the growth of the business and to establish a new concept in retirement living. The summer of 2002 brought them closer to their vision of creating an active adult lifestyle community and a master plan was created to develop the 23 acres that is Coldstream Meadows Retirement Community.

Given this great opportunity, three other family members joined the business. In the summer of 2003 Jack & Elaine’s youngest son Chris joined the team to lead construction management, and then in the spring of 2005 their middle son David joined as project manager along with his wife Amber as part of our sales and marketing department.

Together all six family members bring vast knowledge and experience to Coldstream Meadows to make this the premiere retirement community in the Okanagan.
